A. Can your units communicate through GPRS or GSM?
Yes. The 8580, 8590, 9580CE, and 9590CE Industrial Mobile Computers all integrate wireless WAN (GPRS/GSM) for remote access to servers. This feature is ideal for field work, such as delivery, field service, and other types of activities where users need to access servers from remote job sites or customers' locations. Also, many of our products integrate BT communications. BT enables connectivity to other Bluetooth devices, such as cell phones, which can be used to connect to remote servers through a cell phone network, if the mobile computer is loaded with the appropriate application.

A. Do you have products with BT?
Yes. We have several products with BT. The 1166 and 1266 wireless scanners use BT, so you can scan without being tethered by a cable. The 1166 and 1266 scanners give you mobility to work faster and smarter. Many of our mobile computers, including the 8000 series, 8300 series, 8500 series and 9500 series mobile computers, also have BT, so you can connect to printers, PCs, and other BT devices to extend your functionality in many ways while working.

A. Does an 8000 come with wireless LAN?
Yes. Like many of our mobile computers, the 8071 Pocket-size Mobile Computer has wireless LAN for connectivity to your servers over an WLAN (802.11b/g). The coverage area for the 8071 is 350 meters (1148 ft). With wireless connectivity, you can carry the 8071 with you and wirelessly access your servers to update data as you scan barcodes. Wireless LAN also lets you download information from your servers to query prices, quantities, or any information available through the mobile computer's programming. Wireless connectivity gives you incredible mobility to work anywhere within your wireless network coverage area.

A. What is the battery life for your products?
Our portable products are engineered to be very energy efficient to support long work hours. By coupling low-consumption firmware with high-output battery power, CipherLab leads the AIDC industry in efficient working hours. In batch mode, many of our mobile computers will provide 100 hours or more of service between charges. And the most feature-rich CipherLab mobile computers running wireless LAN, which demands the greatest power, will last through a worker's long shift. See each product's data sheet for specific operating hours.

A. What type of imagers do you use for scanning?
Our products offer a complete range of data capture technologies to exactly meet your particular needs. The 1000 and 1090+ scanners use a contact imager, which ensures accurate data capture at close range and eliminates reading errors from adjacent barcodes. The 1100 and 1105 rely on linear imagers with high resolutions. The 1200 integrates a laser scanner that reads barcodes up to 63 cm (25 in.) away. Our 1166 and 1266 BT scanners use a linear imager (1166) or laser (1266). The 8000 Series offers a choice of linear imager or laser, while the 8300 series adds a choice of a long-range laser and RFID. The 8500 and 9500 series integrate your choice of a linear imager, 2D imager, regular laser, long-range laser, or extra-long-range laser. With so many options, you can choose a configuration that best fits your AIDC service requirements.
